Dr. Steven R. Shum, O.D.
Dr. Shum, received his undergraduate training from the University of Tennessee, his Masters degree in education from the University of Memphis, and his doctorate in optometry from the Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Shum is certified by the Orthokeratology Society of America and is also certified to practice Therapeutic Optometry. He was on the faculty of the Southern College of Optometry from 1973 to 1986, and has been an adjunct professor there since 1989.
Dr. Shum has been in private practice in Germantown since 1975, and is licensed in Tennessee. He is DEA registered and a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the West Tennessee State Optometric Association. He is an investigator for RGP, soft bifocal contact lenses, and contact lenses used in orthokeratology.
Dr. Shum is also a refractive laser surgery consultant, and a computer vision syndrome specialist using the PRIO procedure. He participates in the InfantSEE Program, which is a comprehensive infant eye health evaluation and vision assessment within the first year of age, free of charge. He has a special emphasis in the care and treatment of Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome. Furthermore, Dr. Shum performs pre and post operative cataract care. Dr. Shum also sees patients with eye infections or injuries.
Additionally, Dr. Shum is active in his community. He is a member of the Germantown Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer at the Church Health Center, Habitat for Humanity, and a participant in the Vision USA program.

Dr. Brandon Nelms, O.D.
A native of Collierville, Dr. Brandon Nelms received his undergraduate degree from Union University in Jackson, TN. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from The Southern College of Optometry in 2010.
Dr. Nelms has been with our practice in many capacities since 2009. He is a licensed Optometrist in the State of Tennessee and is DEA registered. Dr. Nelms is a member of the American Optometric Association, Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, West Tennessee State Optometric Association, and is certified to practice Therapeutic Optometry. Dr. Nelms is an Associate member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Furthermore, Dr. Nelms is a member of the American Optometric Association's Sports Vision Section and Contact Lens and Cornea Section.
Dr. Nelms sees patients with eye infections or injuries. He participates in the InfantSEE Program, which is a comprehensive infant eye health evaluation and vision assessment within the first year of age, free of charge. He also performs Visual Perceptual Evaluations for children with vision-related learning disorders.
Additionally, Dr. Nelms is an active member of our community. He is a member of the Germantown Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer at The Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, enjoys coaching a youth basketball team and is a participant in the Vision USA program.
